Dena graduated from Northwest in 1993 with a B.S. in Behavioral Science,  served as a Resident Assistant her junior year and was elected as Junior Class Vice President. The all-time NU scoring leader with 2, 1979 career points, Dena was a member of the Eagles four appearances in the NCCAA II National Tournament and three NCCAA II national championships in her freshman, sophomore and senior years. She was named to the NCCAA II Nationals All-Tournament team three times. Cambra earned honorable mention All-American honors in her freshman year and followed that with All-American honors in her junior and senior seasons. Dena still holds the NCCAA II national tournament record for 3 point field goals made, leads the NU all-time list for 3 point field goals made (427) and single game scoring record (47 points).
